Andy, you got me thinking about this one. I'm pretty sure your 8N uses the same rear end as my NAA. According to my FO-19 service manual it says the axle bearing should be packed with grease. That would explain your concern about how can oil get past the inner seal to the bearing. But it doesn't explain why your bearing appeard to have oil on it unless the inner seal is worn out. But if it's "no longer serviced" then.............?
Anyone else have an answer to this?
