OK, I was the one that was mowing and the tractor made a pop noise and died (wouldn't start again). I got a new battery and had the starter rebuilt including a new solenoid. The tractor started right up. When I shut it off, the starter was going a million miles an hour and was louder than a jet. Unhooking the battery stopped it. I called the shop that rebuilt it and he told me to tap on the solenoid with the butt end of a hammer. Doing this made the tractor try to start (ignition off)...scary & bizarre! Bad (new) solenoid? What do you think?
