If the spring looks good in the relief valve, i doubt that is the problem. Don't tink i would run it any more until you find the problem. The drive gear may be a fiber type (oringial). I would remove the front cover and check the drive gear. You should be able to get oil pressure just by cranking the motor with the key off.
If you do not have one I would get the I&T FO-4 service manual.
