1. Check the coil resistance with a volt-ohm meter. Probably should be 1-3 ohms. If resistance is very high or does not register, coil could be open/faulty.

2. Did you set points with a feeler gauge or dwell meter?

3. Need to inspect distributor rotor radial tip and rotor commutator tip for wear/buildup. Also need to inspect distributor cap for wear at the internal contacts. Check distributor cap for cracks. Is there moisture inside the distributor cap?
