I am stumped... Have been trying to get this little girl to run nice and idle nicely. When I got it, I replaced the exhaust manifold gasket, installed new tune-up kit (points, plugs, condenser, rotor, cap) It would run okay on full throttle, but on idle it would not idle decent unless the choke was partly pulled out. There seemed to be some play in the throttle butterfly cross shaft, so I assumed there was air leaking in through the shaft. I then bought a new carb, installed it, and it runs the same as before. The adjustment on the idle needle get a little better when it bottomed out, but still needs the choke partly to run decently. The power adjusting needle seems to respond appropriately. Would it possibly be the interior of the manifold is corroded between intake and exhaust passages? Any suggestions?
