Is your tractor the orignal 6v positive ground or upgraded 12v negative ground? I don't know a lot about 9n. I have a Jubilee but, should be about the same on some things. I would check all the wiring for loose connections and or broke wires.
Mice like to eat the insulation off the wires.
pay particular attention to the key switch and the push button starter and starter solenoid.
