Not sure about your 9n, but my 8n has a small "parking brake lever" down by the brake pedal. When you want to set the brake, you hold the brake pedal down and at the same time you reach down and set the lever to hold the brakes in place. When you take you foot off the pedal, the brakes stay set. To release them, you simply step on the brake pedal.
