Sorry to bug you guys, but I took the tractor to a machinist friend of mine and he removed the top of the transmission which included the steering box cover and found a bent plate inside which he straightend. Also after having the tractor for about 10 years he showed me a lever on the left side that disengages the pto. Whew!, It all works perfectly now and I'm happy to having it running well again as we use it a lot. My friend also said the trans was almost out of fluid so I'm supposed to get some 90 wt oil to bring it up to level. Sorry for being so stupid.
By the way, I also mention I have half tracks on it and when plowing snow it plows the same going uphill or downhill. Great little machine.
Anyway the more you find out you learn that there is a lot more you have to learn.
