I don't see why you couldn't use the tractor for occasional tasks if you first fill up the oil level to make sure the pump/transaxle/transmission stay wet. The only thing is that you probably don't have brakes because they're all oily. Also, leaking gallons of oil into groundwater isn't such a great idea either. Maybe you could fill it when you need it and then drain it to save the oil for next time, at least till you can get it apart in the future to replace the seals properly. Good luck.
