My father bought a 2N a year ago and asked me for help with the hydraulics. I bought a real dipstick for it. It had an old piece of bent wire for a dipstick. Found that it was only about half full of 90wt and replaced the oil. The hydraulics worked fine. He's since passed and the tractor is mine now and I've come to find the hydraulics don't work so good anymore, it's half full again and the grass doesn't grow where he kept it parked. He didn't need a tractor but we overhauled one in 1971 when I was a kid. So I guess it was a good memory for him. It's leaking at the axel shafts onto the brakes and where the right axel housing connects to the chassis. The PTO shaft doesn't leak. It starts easy, runs good, has plenty of power under load. I would like to do a full restore starting in a few years when I get done with the estate crap and fixing up his place (now mine)so the bugs and weather don't carry it away. The tractor won't be used except for a little driveway work and maybe moving some snow around and hauling a concrete mixer up and down the hill once in a while. Can I use it without damage to the hydraulic pump if I keep it filled until I can start work on it? He was the real mechanic, I was just his gopher. Thanks
