Posted by Larry C Berger on Monday, June 25, 2007:

I have a 8N Ford - 1951 with which appears not to have a filler plug for the steering box which uses the latest Ball and Nut steering gear after SN 216988.

Ref picture no. Fig FO12A page 7 of IT shop service manual FO-4 by Technicial Publications.

The caption reads in part "The filler plug may be differently located on some 8N tractors in this series range."

I presently have the engine out to rebuild and also the battery/box removed. I just can not find a place to fill the steering gear which by the way steers very hard!

I even took a screw out from the Sector cover (item #28) but the hole is a "blind" screw hole which will not let me pump any oil into it.

Does anyone know the answer to this?
SN is 415693

Thank You,

Larry
