well, I pulled the steering gear box off the tractor, having difficulty disassembling the thing because of the years of use and rust.thesteering shaft came out with a bearing cage and no ball bearings attached.Theshaft has a very loose but attached cone bearing on the distal end of the shaft.Appears the left and right arms in the box are not aligned or meshed with each other. Need to further disassemble to see for sure. At 400-500.00 for a new assembly...I will work at it for awhile longer...Tonebone
