I have a John Deere 770 that I cannot engage the pto when the engine is running. It has a dual stage clutch. I split the tractor recently and found the pressure plates looked ok, (flat) and the clutches were within spec. I set the clutches up according to technical manual. I can engage them with the tractor off and they work fine. (mid and rear). If i push the clutch all the way down and try to engage the mid or rear, the gears will grind. Anyone have any ideas? The tractor is a 1992 with 1973 hrs.
