I'm having problems with the oil pressure on my 1710 compact tractor as well. When I turn the tractor on the oil pressure seems to be satisfactory, but as the engine warms up the oil pressure light comes on. Then if I increase the RPM's the engine light goes off for a short time but as the engine warms up the light comes back on. I tested the oil pressure with a gauge and the pressure is actually dropping below 10psi. I opened up the engine and checked out the oil pump, which didn't show hardly any damage and parts were all within tolerance. The screen on the pump was spotless. I installed a new pressure relief valve because the original seemed to have a little catch in it. I checked the oil pan and that was clean. I installed a new oil filter of a different brand and changed to 30 weight oil.
After all of this the engine oil pressure is still low. The next thing I plan on doing is changin the oil pump. I'll order the pump through the following web site.

If you have any luck in fixing your oil pressure problem, please let me know what you did.
Good Luck,
