Been a good tractor, ran perfect for 10 years…then it just would not start, no spark. I replaced the CDI….no spark…I replaced the exciter coil and Praise be to the tractor god I got spark for about 10 minutes, fired a couple times almost started and then no spark again. All the coils check out with the multimeter but I can not get a reading from the CDI…so now I am confused…why would a second CDI go out like that? I can not get a reading from the multimeter off of the old one or the new one (I have the Honda CD for their tractors with the data). So I assume it is bad. Just paid another $100.00 for a new one (on order)…anything you can think of that might be frying the CDI? For instance…while I was trying to start it I had the trickle charger on the battery and plugged in…12 volts are 12 volts so that shouldn’t be a problem…right? The guys at the Honda dealership where I bought it are useless in terms of info and I can’t afford to take it to them but if the new CDI does not work I guess I’ll have to.
Any help is appreciated.
