jeff, a few things to look at. I'm just guessing from your posting, so maybe my input will me nothing.I work on alot of machinery,so I started thinking a little. If you tractor has what I know as the same old varriable speed drive, it's a dual belt vary drive. What I think your calling the idle is the pedal operated varriable pully. Like you said located under the seat. without looking at the unit, I can onlt guess based on my own problems. first, look for any belt miss alignments. Look for burrs or sharp spots on the pulleys. (best done at full power and a beer in one hand)NO! just kidding! Look at the idle tensioner that on the front belt, does it spin freely with no noise, and is not wobbly? Does the double vary drive pully float freely up and down between the frorward and rear belt? Big ?????? did you clean your tractor with a pressure washer last fall? I did once, ruined all the deck bearings and idles. Oh ya, the bear and full power thing. it's a joke.
