Hi,

I have a year old MTD (Huskee Supreme) 600 series 46in cut 22hp autodrive step-thru lawn tractor. This is the same old variable speed pulley style. They just moved everything under the seat.

I have a problem with the transmission drive belt getting a groove worn from the top side of the belt. Appears to be wearing on the idler pulley. The belt goes around the transmission pulley, variable speed pulley, and a flat plastic idler pulley making a triangle. Replacing the belt helps for a while, but it always gets to the point where it often pops off the idler pulley.

Also have found the transmission on this tractor to be noisy making a cyclical whining noise. Is this normal?

Any help appreciated.
