I have 1-2 acres of hilly pasture type of cutting. I just bought a John Deere 300X riding mower. The machine is solid, but it does not give me enough traction going uphill and going downhill it feels like the mower is running away from me. The 500X is supposed to give you more traction, but I still worry about going downhill. And it costs twice as much. Is there anything out there that is designed for hills? I would live with a manual transmission as long as I had more control.
