check the fuel pressure. thebook says 5 to 15 is good but
I had a similiar problem with just 5psi. it would start with ether and barely idle no power
found out it was a check valve on the fuel return side of the hydraulic head of the injection pump (weak spring)
replaced it. now holds 15 psi runs great. make
sure the air filter is changed or is clean
