I totally agree with the others. I have a 1500, which is just a little smaller than the 1700, and a 4-foot bushhog.
I mow about 3 or 4 acres, and I maintain a couple of hundred feet of gravel driveway that receives a moderate amount of snow.
I feel the 1500 is underpowered for the 4-foot bushhog, which I just use for cleanup in nasty areas. However, I do use a 5-foot finish mower without any problem. All my other implements are just fine for this size tractor.
But, for what you describe, you really need at least a 25 horse tractor, or you will be noticeably aging each time you mow.
