Have you checked other dealers, especially Deere? If you can find a ROPS that's close, it would leave you just the attachment point to fabricate. When ROPS-protected, if you feel it tipping, crouch abord holding onto the wheel.
More jurisdictions are mandating ROPS by law for new tractors, so there should be lots to choose from. In the meantime, tractors tip easier than cars, so be careful when the loaded bucket is raised and the ground isn't solid and level, and don't turn at speed. And plan what to do immediately if you feel it going: lower bucket, and practice jumping off and away or to the high side -- don't count on having time to just steer into the tip.
