My YM1720D started running hot while running the bushhog. I checked all of the obvious things related to the radiator (fins clean & not smashed, fan belt good & tight, screen clean, etc.). I had added a little anti-freeze a few days earlier so I thought the AF to water mix may be too high so I removed some and added water - this did not help.
I did notice a very small amount of white smoke when the engine is running. My understanding is that this may indicate the head gasket is bad. There is no trace of oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil.
My questions are:
-- Does this model have a thermostat? (I don't see anything that looks like a housing for it)
-- Does this model have a water pump or a syphon system?
-- Would you think it is the head gasket and I have caught it before getting bad enough to allow fluid exchange?
-- If it is the head gasket, what other parts should I look at changing along with it?
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
