I suspect you mean an overrunning coupler, also called an overrunning clutch. A slip clutch is a different item, which has an actual clutch/friction disc, often as part of a pto shaft.
Whether you need an OR coupler depends on how much you value your life, not the size material you're cutting. Same thing with a ROPS. Go to the ROPS page on our website LMTCompany.com and follow the two links about ROPS...read the articles, then decide. Every Yanmar we sell has an OR coupler on it.
