What a bummer. Sorry I don't recall where, but a couple of weeks back there was a news clip on treatment for that cancer.
Yanmar says to change it at 500 hrs, but many owners, myself included, wait for 1000. If the level's up and no water got in, it doesn't wear out like motor oil. There's a lot of fluid in there, and there are filters...I'd let the buyer do that. Just tell him it has to be hyd/trans fluid, and not plain hyd.
