Thank you for all that posted - My key board was stuck on Caps-lock, so sorry again.
Norm: Sorry again - No, I can put the tractor in gear, high and low, and when I depress the clutch only then does it grind.
Steve: Yes - it was up in Escondido and it is a great little tractor . . . I was lucky in the buy.
I took a look at the drive shaft and with it in gear and the motor running there is no movement - when the clutch is depressed then it tries to move and there is a grinding sound. I can not tell if it is coming from the clutch area or the trans/diff area as with everything running it is pretty loud!
Once again, thank you for all that responded and will be checking again soon.
