If I put the manual recommended amount of fluid in the transmission after a full drain, it will not come up to the full mark. I put in near a gallon more before all the cavities were filled and the dipstick read correctly. The number in the manual appears to be just to fill the transmission, not the transmission and both differential housings. My suggestion is to keep filling it until the dipstick registers properly.
