Thanks, Al. I did make that mistake once and may have done damage thereby. A fella in a parts store told me, "This will work." Not so! It didn't take long for the fliud to look like it was congealing and for the system to stop working. I got some Auto-Zone "303" which clearly states it replaces JD 303 and replaced the bad fluid cleaned the screen and the system worked OK. I may have done damage with that episode, but it was several years ago. I don't know what damage would be. I have taken my tractor to a mechanic and am trying to get an idea of what I'm looking at. I want to be sure I get the problem corrected before it does more damage. The tractor only has 1900 hrs. on it and I intend to keep it for the rest of my life if possible.
