Forgot: after bleeding, turn the flow-stop back on. It's no big deal -- you do that bleeding procedure when you change the fuel filter. (There are other places to bleed further toward the engine, but see if that does it.)

No, air won't hurt the engine -- it's good for it because it prevents it from starting.
