In Reply to: OLIVER 1800 LEAKING HEAD GASKET posted by JIM IN WIS. on Thursday, August 27, 2009:

Hello Jim,

My name is Joseph Lee. Nice to meet ya. I'm a tech at a hubler chevy dealership in Bedford Indian, 10 years now i guess.

Brother I gotta say i have heard every question there is that sounds like yours and every answer that could be my friend...

I'm sorry Jim but a damaged head with stress fractures even close to or near sealing threads ( Ya important ones ) are hard to spot. Even (very picky slow) head inspections are hard to stand by if the person doesn't magnaflux the concerned area.

A hard feet to face I know. I own an 1944 oliver 60 standard eng. that I mounted up to a "47" oliver 60 row crop chassis and workings. My sole reason for the tractor was & is to pull timber from within holler bottoms. ( LOTS OF FRONT END CARRY BAGGAGE TO KEEP HER DOWN ON THE GROUND!!!)

Look, you can have a head fluxed for around 50 bucks here. do that first man. Save yourself some headache and time for the olivers sake. ( chose a well known eng. shop!!!!!!!!!!!) HOW BAD IS THE LEAK----DO YOU OWN A DIGITAL CAMERA??? Record the event, document this problem and send the pics to my email if you want my opinion. You don't have to trust my thoughts on the matter if ya have seconds thinkings.

You don't see my oliver questions on here do you??? Look mine was a large clump of Iron Oxide when I bought Her, I'm a deisel and driveability personal at the dealership and let me tell you. It helps when you have seen the same situation on boats, cars, trucks, motorcycles, and you guessed it. (old tractors)

From an oliver owner to the next, Send some pics to (thats me jim) first befor you end up with an idiot telling you GARBBLE bull%#@@ about your Sweet sick oliver. please...

Hope I can help you man. We'll figure something out I PROMISE, LOL ;)(:.

Sincerly yours,
Joseph Lee
