Steering problem. I have an Oliver 1850 that I've had for about three years. The machine has operated without any problems and runs like a top. However, a couple of weeks ago while mowing I noticed the front wheels getting "loose". In addition, part of the time it would take two or three revolutions to catch up to make it steer. I continued to mow - the steering problem was annoying but everything else in the hydraulics was working correctly. After a while the steering wheel got tight when turning to the right and eventually it quit turning to the right. I limped back to the shed by making all lefts and when I was backing into the shed the wheel quit turning to the left. Now the wheel is more or less locked and I can't steer it. By locked, I mean that when you try to turn you can't and the hydraulic pump "squeals" like you have run it to the end of a shaft or hit the limit. In addition, the front wheels "flop" from side to side without and resistance. Hydraulic levels look fine. Any ideas?
