I heard tell of an Agco dealer in Ohio had a 77 come in with the same problem. It was vaporlocking. They discovered it by running a neoprene temporary gas line down outside the frame.
Other suggestion,somebody on another forum had an 88 with the same problem. He had rebuilt everything to specs,but used the old float. Didn't take in to consideration the wear. It wasn't letting the needle drop far enough to let in enough gas to keep it running. Good luck.
