the Wood rod was suppost to be removed when the oil filter was placed on.Oliver shipped them that way.There sould be an oil rod on the oil bace that the filter slides over. If not that is very bad. Your oil is not getting filtered. Put vaseline on the oil seal at the filter base. Thanks Brian
