Rick, if your tractor is a '51, it is not a Super. They didn't start the Super series untill 1955.
joe, who knows what has been done to your tractor over the last 50 years! I'd say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I would,however, put a voltmeter on the battery with the engine running to see what rate of charge you have.
