If it is anything like our Oliver/Whites pull the shaft out and see if the splines are wore out on the end. They actually engage a set of splines in a hub behind the pilot bearing in the flywheel. If the splines are gone on the shaft the hub probaly is not much better.
On our 4-175 we actually had the coupler split between the pump and the drive.
Pull the shaft clear out of the tractor first thou and check all splines.
