My father just bought a mid 70s Ford 4500 TLB. We have never owned a tractor, much less a backhoe. We are going to do some cleanup on some property we own and this seemed to be a good deal. There is a pretty good sized oblong hole on the right underside of the tractor that someone had a rag stuffed in. We are not sure if there is supposed to be something there or not. I have poated a picture of the side where the hole is located. I will post another pic with a closeup shot. Any information would be a great help.
