I Was blowing snow with a rear mounted blower on my 706. When going uphill the transmission made an awful lot of noise. When I got on more level ground I tried shifting to high and low. No matter if I selected H,L, or N, the tractor was in forward gear and would not go back into reverse. When I would try to put tractor into reverse the engine boggged down and tried to stall. I finally managed to get it into reverse but now it is stuck there. Low and Neutral: tractor acts like in neutral. When I try to put it in High the trans grinds a little but will not go into gear. The T.A. was taken out years back. Exactly where do I look first? Linkages worn? How do I get the cover off?
