I have a 1996 2460 long tractor. 2 weeks ago I was pushing up some debris in a cut-over when the egine accelerated on it's own. After a short time it idled back down and ran normal. But after about 10 - 15 min., it done it again..except this time, it did not idle back down. After a few seconds, the engine shut down. I have checked EVERY line for any damage or leaks and have none.. I have replaced the primary filter and the secondary filter {that has never been changed} and have bled the system completely {at least, I think I have anyway}. I started bleeding the system at the primary filter, then the secondary filter, then at the bottom vent plug and the top vent plug of the injection pump, making sure that there was no air. I then loosened the injection lines at the injectors and turned the engine over to bleed out any remaining air. The fuel comes out, but appears "bubbly".. Is that normal?? Anyway, the engine still would not crank. I sprayed just a small amount of starter fluid in the breather and the engine fired right up.. It ran perfect for about 20 - 30 minutes.. I started down the road {heading back to the cut-over} and after only an eighth of a mile, the engine accelerated on it's own again.. By the time I made it back into my back yard, the engine shut down again.. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something else that I need to look at??
