If the plowshares are the same size, then you need roughly 50% more HP to pull 3 instead of 2. What kind of condition is your current 2 bottom plow in? If it's badly worn, that might account for your tractor's trouble in pulling it. I can appreciate the satisfaction in using a plow and disk, just tossed out the tiller idea to see what you wanted to do. On places like Ebay, there are a lot of mighty fine older machines available out there, some at reasonable prices. You will probably save money by buying locally at a farm, or local auction. If you have basic mechanical skills, then older is cheaper if you do your own repairs. Next most expensive would be a new import tractor like Mahindra or Kioti, then the most money would be a new machine from one of the mainstream manufacturers like Deere or Massey Ferguson, etc. A new machine provides a warantee, and presumably many hours of trouble free operation before wear and tear set in. An older machine has significant cost savings up front, but may or may not need repairs as you go. A rear catagory 1 three point hitch and 540 RPM PTO have been standard for so long that any old tractor you find made after say 1950 is gonna have that set up, so attachments are gonna be pretty much universal.
