The typical sub-compact utility tractor is around 25 hp with a diesel engine and can be fitted up wit a front loader with around 500 pound of capacity. Just about all of them will scoop and move loose dirt, mulch, stone all day long. Your dealer will advise as to what weight is needed on the back to balance out the front loader. These machines are very useful for a small scale farm, or large homestead. They have a lot of power for their size, but are not big enough to dig "virgin" soil easily say for installing a swimming pool or septic system, although with patience, it can be done.
