New Holland TC24 v. Kubota B7500
| Curt S. | I have been looking at tractors and can’t decide between the New Holland TC24 and the Kubota B7500. The New Holland is 24hp and the Kubota is 21hp. I plan to pull a 60″ finish mower, plow the driveway and move some dirt and gravel on occasion. I have about 6 acres, some is lawn and some is field. The big thing is the Kubota is $9800 and the New Holland is $12,200. Any feedback would be great. Thank You. |

| Bob S | Curt, I looked NH and Kubota last year. Let me state up front that I also own a Kubota B2910 that is about 4 or 5 years old. I ended up buying the New Holland TC24D last summer and it is a fantastic little tractor. The reason I bought the TC24D was specifically for mowing my fields. The power to weight and power to size ratios are amazing. The TC24D has become my favorite tractor ( I also restore Oliver tractors and own a Cub Cadet in addition to the larger Kubota B2910). As for pushing in the clutch on the TC24D it does disengage the PTO. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I know of a compact utility tractor that does not cut out when you push the clutch in . . . I presume it is a safety feature to make lawyers happy. As for pulling a 60″ finish mower. I use a Befco 60″ finish mower with my TC24D with no problems. I would, however, NOT recommend that large of a finish mower on any tractor that does NOT have at least 24 engine hp and 19 PTO hp. In fact, 60″ is pushing your luck with the TC24D if you are mowing tall or wet grass. I do not think that the Kubota B7500 has enough power for a 60″ deck without putting undue strain on the powerplant, which will lead to premature wear and failure. I think you’d need to look at the Kubota B7800 for a 60″ deck. I got a bid on the B7800 when I was shopping last summer also, I don’t remember the exact quote, but it was something over $12,000. As for the prices, I paid (delivered to my door) $10,300 for my TC24D in June of 03. I think you might want to pound on the dealer a bit more! Also, you might want to contact Corriher Implement about buying one from them. Corriher ships NH tractors anywhere in the country and their prices are very tough to beat, even after you add on shipping charges. Your local New Holland dealer WILL service a tractor bought from another dealership. However, you may simply want to get a price from Corriher and see if the local dealer will lower his price. You can find Corriher Implement on the internet if you do a web search. |
