Case 580 Serial Numbers #s and Years
Here you have it folks! Another popular feature by way of AJ from our Case tractors discussion forum. Here he has gone to the trouble of providing a list of serial numbers and dates of manufacture of tractors in the Case 580 series. Highly useful.
Case 580 Serial #s and year
| AJ | Handy list of serial #s and year built for the 580Case 580 Series Loader Backhoe Serial Number Guide to Year of Manufacture
Serial Numbers (S/N) in this chart are for the machine (tractor) only. Production Series can be determined by serial number. Attachments and components such as backhoes, loaders or engines have individual serial numbers specific to the attachment or component. See bottom of chart for more information. 580CK Tractor 1966-1971 580B Series “B” Tractor 1971 - 1976 580C Series “C” Tractor 1975 - 1980 580D & Super D Tractor 1980 - 1983 580 denotes the machine Model. The letter after the model number denotes the Series. The letters “CK” follow all 580 model machines and stands for Construction King. For example 580C CK is a Model 580, Series C, Construction King. Machine serial numbers for tractors up to the “E” series start with the numbers 8 or 9. The “E” series through the early “K” series serial numbers start with 17. In 1988 the “K” series machine serial numbers begin with the letters JJG. Attachments such as loaders and backhoes and components such as engines and transmissions have individual serial numbers. The following information is generally true for machines through the D series tractors. All manufactures names, numbers, symbols and descriptions are for reference purposes only. It is not implied that any part listed is the product of CNH or the Case Co. Equipment Parts Source, Inc. is not a representative, associated or affiliated with CNH or the Case Co. AJ |

AJ I have had no problems with my 580ck until I replaced the starter.I now have a major oil leak.I called the dealership and They can’t tell me if I have a wet system or not.In the past I have had oil in the starter(found when the starter wouldn’t work,Brushes)The starter had sealer at the motor ends and at the starter mounting to the bell housing.I cleaned the starter and installed new brushes and solonoid.I put sealer back and have been fine until the starter stopped working again. The brushes were wore out this time and the armature wore.I did not install sealer this time and I have a leak now.The starter did not have any oil in it and I didn’t see having to put sealer on it.My question is can you or anyone tell me how to tell if This is supposed to be a wet system or not?
